Woodstock winery was founded in 1905 and is located in MeLaren Vam, the wine producing area signed by Italy. It has a history of 113 years, and the old vine ridge in the vineyard is also more than a few years old. Woodstock Winery was established by the Towrsond family, and was bought by the ColleIt family in 1973 and has been passed on to this day.
Woodstock is the name of a small town near Dublem Camp in Oxford, England. The Toansond family came to Australia from Britain in their early years. They acquired this property and established a vineyard in 1905. In 1973, Doug Collett, a fighter pilot of the Royal Air Force during World War II, bought the manor. Later, Doug's second son Scott Colke took over the management of Woodstock in 1983 and established the "Woodstock Small Circle" tavern in 1988.
In the center of Woodstock, England, stands a set of wooden torture tools (STOCKS) used in the Middle Ages to publicly punish local residents who drank too much. Now, a replica of it is also standing at the entrance of Woodstock Manor in McLaren Valley. It is worth mentioning that the word "wooden pile Shiraz" produced by 31 Long 110 year old Shiraz vines (planted in about 1900) is used playfully.
In 1999, Mr. Scott and Mr. Ben Glaetzer jointly created a superb Woodstock table wine series. These table wines capture the unique flavor of different grape varieties in Woodstock Manor very well. Mr. Scott carefully managed the vineyard to ensure the quality of the grapes. Mr. Ben was always fastidious about details. Two wine making aristocratic families, Scott Family Brigade and Ben Family, have established a long-term and consolidated wine making cooperation to ensure that Woodshock Manor produces wines of outstanding and stable quality with distinctive style.
